March 22 on the International Day of Water at the Belarusian State Transport University ASDEMO together with GGTU held a meeting-presentation of the trans-border international project “THEOREMS-Dnipro” (hydrometeorological and environmental monitoring of the Dnipro river cross-border section) funded by the European Union within the framework of the Program of territorial cooperation of the countries of the Eastern Partnership “Belarus-Ukraine”.
The project is aimed at increasing the efficiency of the Dnipro River Monitoring System and raising the ecological awareness and effectiveness of integrated management of transboundary water resources of the Dnipro river in Chernihiv and Gomel regions.
The uniqueness of the project is that the monitoring stations on the territory of Belarus and Ukraine will be automated and energy autonomous, and the list of research parameters of the river will be expanded. A special database will also be created for storing information from stations, which will have access to organizations involved in the control and management of water resources.
This project is pilot and demonstrative and, in the event of its success, experience can be applied to other transboundary rivers.
